FORUM RULES
- Be respectful to other members and the staff at all times. Do not be rude and DO NOT discriminate. If you are having difficulty with someone, please inform a member of the staff privately.
- Respect the decisions of the staff. Do not try to go behind our backs if you do not get what you want, the staff discuss any all concerns with each other and do not overrule each other without a very good reason. We work hard to maintain the site and keep it enjoyable for the members. What you want may not be what is best for everyone else.
- Fighting, bullying, harassment, etc. is strictly prohibited. Just as a general rule of thumb, be respectful of the staff and your fellow users. If you have a problem with someone, contact an impartial staff member to mediate the issue.
- Users are allowed to cuss and discuss ‘controversial’ topics such as religion and politics so long as they’re being smart about it. This site is aimed toward older role-players so you’re expected to be mature and respectful. Start any fights and the staff will be generous with the banhammer.
- Keep public discussion and chats in the cBox to PG13 content.
- Graphics must be no wider than 500px to avoid stretching the boards and slowing load times. No explicit images are allowed.
- All content must be properly credited. You must have permission to use any and all graphics, and you must credit when quoting copyrighted songs/poetry/books/etc. If it comes to our attention that you’ve been using graphics without the creator’s permission they must be taken down immediately. The first time you get a warning, second time comes with a three day ban, third time and you’re done.
- When waiting for a form to be accepted, you must wait at least twenty four hours before you’re allowed to contact a staff member about taking a look at it. We try to keep on top of all our work as best as possible, but you still need to give us some time to get things done before contacting us.
- Do not advertise anywhere on the site except for in the Advertisements board.
- If you see someone breaking a rule, inform a member of the staff privately. We will take care of it. Please do not try to handle it yourself or respond to the offending post.
- If there is a member that registers and posts strange links referring to products, DO NOT click the links. They may contain spyware. Report it to an administrator immediately and they will ban the bot and remove the links. If a topic looks strange or out of place, do not click on it and report it as well.
CONCERNING BANNING AND BANNED MEMBERS.
- The staff take banning very seriously and will only pursue the course of permanently banning a member after multiple warnings have been issued and ignored. A permanent ban is only issued when the staff collectively believes that it is not possible to deal with a member under any circumstances.
- Permanent banning is PERMANENT! A Permanent ban means that your last chance to improve your behavior has already been wasted. We do not offer appeals and we do not unban under any circumstances. Do not ask to be unbanned.
- Dodging a ban using proxies or making a new account with another email address and name will result in an automatic banning again without any strikes or warnings.
ACCOUNTS & PROFILES
- Avatars may be a maximum of 150x150 pixels. Though it doesn't completely matter, the site will resize images for you.
- All together, signatures may be a maximum of 500 x 300.
- Do not purposefully make your signature an eyesore. Please avoid brightly colored, massive text, and GIFs that may make the page load slowly for other members.
- Do not link to, or have images of, pornographic, offensive, or illegal material under any circumstances anywhere on the site.
- You may have one account per character. With v5 there is a neat little feature that allows you to switch between accounts with ease, it's located in the bottom right corner and you click on the people sign and it will let you choose which account you want to be on. Neat huh?
- At the beginning of every other month, the staff will hold an activity check. This is a thread that will be up for two weeks where each member is required to post, listing their active characters. Anyone who does not respond will have their character profiles archived. If you miss an activity check or return to the site after leaving for an extended period, simply inform an administrator or moderator and they will unarchive your profiles as soon as possible.
ROLEPLAYING
- DO NOT start roleplaying until you have an APPROVED character! Be patient when waiting for your profile to be approved. Please do not pester or nag the staff to approve your character.
- Threads need to be properly tagged; otherwise they’ll be considered to be open to anyone. [Closed] [Invite Only] and [Private] are just a handful of the acceptable tags. Once you’ve finished a thread, please change the tag to [Finished] so that the staff knows to archive it. Same for if a thread dies.
- God-modding and power-plays are strictly prohibited. No character can be hurt in any way without the user’s permission.
- Meta-gaming is not allowed. While sometimes it’s hard to keep to this perfectly, please make an effort to make sure you don’t roleplay your character knowing things that you know that they would have no way of being aware of.
- Try to keep your posts easy to read. The site has a dark skin to allow for a wide range of choices for text colors and that ilk, but one should still be conscious of making sure their writing is easily legible.
- Please try to follow roleplaying etiquette to the best of your ability. Clear plots with everyone involved, don’t join long running threads without permission, hold grudges OoC if things don’t go the way you want in IC, etc. We won’t ban you for being obnoxious, but it’ll be hard to get people to roleplay with you.
- We do not have a post minimum, like some sites. Because we understand that everyone has off days and might not be able to make a set number of posts. However this doesn't mean slack off and make one liners. Those are just annoying, no one likes them. At least 3-5 lines, that's one paragraph.
- We do not have a post maximum either. You can post a whole novel in one post if you wish. But its not encouraged to do this every post unless of course that's how you rp. Then yay for details!
- Please write in third person, it's just easier and used the most. Plus it's less confusing then writing in first.
- Since Elder Scrolls games do not use a regular calender like ours, please keep in mind of the days and years and months here in Skyrim.
- While we do allow mature content, please take your explicit scenes elsewhere (IM, e-mail, etc). Not everyone on this site wants to read sexual or rape scenes, and children might be accessing the site. If the situation comes up, take it to instant messenger or another place that allows its. Plus it's against Proboards TOS anyways kiddies.
- Put an M tag for gory threads and other mature themes. Do not make it too excessive. If you are unsure if something is excessively gory/sexual, ask a staff member.
- You cannot kill other people's original characters without express permission from their player.
- You cannot kill canon characters without special permission from all of the staff. We are assuming that all canon characters who are alive in-game are alive on the forum unless in-game events that lead to their canon death have occurred through RP.
Basics
- A general knowledge of Elder Scrolls lore (specifically TES V: Skyrim) is recommended for a more fulfilling experience but is not required. If there is something you do not understand, make sure and look it up on the various resources out there. If you do not understand it after looking it up, ask on this board.
- No character is invincible. Do not play them as if they are. All characters have their weaknesses and strengths. If you put your character in a position where they would obviously be killed because of their own stupidity, the staff may choose to have the character killed off. (For example, walking alone into the Thalmor Embassy and shouting “Praise Talos!”)
